A customer was given an elegant small carved Chinese chest several years earlier. Finally she and her husband were ready to obtain a stand that would complement and display the chest.
Some concept sketches were submitted and one selected. A number of details were decided collaboratively. A detailed CAD drawing was made to confirm the size and proportions. (Apologies for a poor picture.)
Because the chest had a wide outer frame, it was decided to make the legs fairly stout.
"Drops" were added to the end of each apron rail to suggest the Far East.
Finally, lifting cleats were inserted between the base and top, to bring in a sense of Chinese mystery.
