This project was a practice starburst pattern so it was not made with a finished edge. It is however a good example of the type of pattern that can be achieved with figured veneer. The veneer used, red gum, was chosen solely for its low cost but turned out very attractive. The same area of twenty-four consecutive sheets of the veneer was used to make this pattern. The resulting effect depends upon not only the overall figure in the sheets, but also the particular area of the sheets that is used. Compare this pattern with Another Red Gum Starburst that was made from a different area of the very same sheets of red gum veneer.
