The hand planed surfaces and hand rubbed finish enhances and showcases the beauty of the wood. And the french polished top can be easily renewed to like-new condition and appearance if and when needed without expensive stripping and re-finishing.

Tapered legs provide a lightness and grace to the piece, and the small drawer knobs a simple formality.

Quartersawn lumber for the top and sides, and rift saw lumber for the legs, are very hard to find today but have always been recognized as the premier material for fine furniture. Extensive use of mortise-and-tenon and hand cut dovetail joinery provide the strongest and most durable construction possible.

The cherry lumber shows elegant grain lines unfortunately missing from today's furniture. The top has stunning figure and character. These were highlighted by the crystal clear finish. This is a one of a kind piece that will grow in value and be enjoyed and treasured for many decades.

The drawer sides and tops were carefully planed to fit their openings, further distinguishing this piece from mass produced furniture with sloppy drawers. The drawer stops in the exposed drawer opening were also planed, a couple shavings at at time, until the fronts of the drawers were even with the top and bottom drawer dividers and the center partition.

The bottoms of the drawers include drawer slips for added interest and value. Slips create an unexpected visual highlight when the drawer is open, and allow narrower drawer sides which add elegance and grace.
